Scholarship Opportunities
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority's foundation is education and on all levels they continue
to promote and encourage academic excellence and support the pursuit of higher
education. In continuing that legacy, the Kappa Sigma Chapter supports its members
and affiliates through the following scholarships:
Kappa Sigma also provides assistance to selected members of the wider community:
- The Angela E. Randall Scholarship - awarded to graduating high school
seniors {download AERS}
- The Ruth Whitehead Whaley Incentive Award - open to students at the Family
Academy (formerly known as the Ruth Whitehead Whaley School, named after
a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. {download RWWIA}
International Scholarships are offered through Sigma Gamma Rho's National
Education Fund and through S.P.E.A.R. National scholarships are available to both
members and non-members.
Application forms and guidelines for the Northeast Regional Scholarships are also
available for members of the sorority at the northeast region website (http:
//sgrhoneregion.org/sigmacenter.html). The region will award scholarships to
financial alumnae and undergraduate members.

- AFFILIATE SPONSORED SCHOLARSHIP: Philo Book Scholarship -
The Kappa Sigma Philos started a Book Scholarship Fund in 1996 for high school graduates
who are entering either college or a trade school. The graduates who have met the criteria
have been awarded $300 toward higher learning. Over the past eleven years, Kappa Sigma
Philos have awarded approximately $7,200 to this endeavor. For 2008, the Lady Philos Book
Scholarship has been increased to $500.00.
